Highly-acclaimed Game Creators Have Joined Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Worldwide Studios

Sony Interactive Entertainment had recently announced that they have entered into definitive agreements to acquire Insomniac Games, a leading game developer and long-time partner of SIE, in its entirety. Upon completion of the acquisition, Insomniac Games will join the global development operation of Sony Interactive Entertainment Worldwide Studios

If this seems like a bit too much to absorb, lets break it down a step further… Remember last year’s smash hit, and Sony PlayStation 4 exclusive, Spider-Man? The game that broke records world-wide, and plunged everyone who hadn’t owned a PS4 into deep depression? Well, Insomniac Games was the developer behind it, and we at KOODOO are champing at the bit to see where this acquisition leads.

Building on a working relationship between Insomniac Games and SIE spanning more than 20 years, the acquisition enhances the creative force within SIE WWS, and formally adds a studio to the PlayStation family that continues to raise the bar on open world, story-driven games.

Ted Price, Insomniac CEO (and all-round nice guy), commented: “The decision to join forces with Sony extends far beyond familiarity. He continues, “Our studio vision is to create experiences that have a positive and lasting impact on people's lives. As we look ahead to our future, we know that joining the WWS family gives us the best opportunities to fully achieve that vision on a much larger scale. Further, we believe that Sony shares a similar vision to positively impact players' lives, their employees' lives and the games industry at large.”

This is something which we here at KOODOO can get behind.

Congratulations Insomniac!
