Sony PlayStation Showcase

Sony held its annual PlayStation Showcase event on May 24, 2023, and it was a packed show with over 30 games featured and some new hardware announcements. Here is a rundown of some of the highlights from the Showcase.

Marvel's Spider-Man 2 received a new gameplay trailer, showing off Peter Parker and Miles Morales in their new suits as they take on Venom. The game is scheduled to be released in Fall 2023.

Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater is getting a remake. The game is being developed by Konami and will be released on PS5. It will be known as Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater and will reportedly evolve gameplay ‘with stunning visuals and a seamless user experience.’ To accompany this upcoming release, it was announced that the first three Metal Gear Solid games will also land on PlayStation 5 in future – Metal Gear Solid, Sons of Liberty, and Snake Eater. This collection is known as Metal Gear Solid Master Collection: Volume 1, and it will be released in Autumn 2023 (Northern Hemisphere).

Final Fantasy XVI received a new trailer, showcasing more of the game's world and characters. The game is scheduled to be released on June 22, 2023.

Resident Evil 4 VR Mode is in development for PS5 and PC. The game is being developed by Capcom. This will be a free DLC to owners of the PS5 version of the Resident Evil 4 the Remake.

Bungie officially announced its first completely new project in more than a decade: Marathon, a sci-fi PvP extraction shooter. The studio behind Halo and Destiny debuted the very first CGI teaser trailer for the game, featuring a look at the player characters – cybernetic mercenaries known as Runners.

In addition to these game announcements, Sony also revealed a new PlayStation handheld device called Project Q. Project Q is a portable device that allows you to stream PS5 games to an 8-inch HD screen. The device is scheduled to be released later this year. To play games on the handheld device, you'll require a PlayStation 5 console. These games will be streamed over Wi-Fi using Remote Play. Like most cloud-based gaming, a reliable internet connection is essential to minimize any delay. Based on the provided information, Project Q boasts a button layout that mirrors the standard DualSense controller. It will also offer haptic feedback, similar to the DualSense, and is capable of streaming games at 1080p and 60FPS when connected to a strong Wi-Fi network.

Sony also announced a new pair of wireless earbuds called PlayStation Buds. The earbuds will feature active noise cancellation as well as lossless audio with low latency. The earbuds are scheduled to be released later this year for PS5, PS and Project Q.

Overall, the PlayStation Showcase 2023 was a packed show with a lot of exciting announcements. There are a lot of great games and hardware to look forward to on PS5 in the coming year.
